Lyx (lyx.org) is IMHO certainly the best software for writing longer,

Using APA citation and bibliography styles in Lyx Posted: Novem| Author: stevepowell99 | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: lyx, zotero | Leave a comment Have problems, look on the zotero forums. Then you have do identify that same directory from the lytero settingsĪlso, you may need to play with the key settings.

Reconfigure lyx using the menu item, and it should generate filesĬalled in and out (or similar) in that directory when you restart lyx. IĪctually created an empty text file ~/.lyx/lyxpipe and this seemed to In linux this has toīe set to /.lyx/lyxpipe, don’t know about windows. What I had to do were the usual steps for linux:Ġ) Assuming you already have lyx and zotero standalone, now downloadġ) set the pipe in lyx: tools/preferences/paths. Scientific documents, with zotero, the best citation manager. Lyz is a great tool to integrate lyx, the best tool for writing Just to report that lyz (formerly known as lytero) is still working for me with zotero Zotero standalone, lyz, lyx, bibtex integration Posted: Octo| Author: stevepowell99 | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: lyx, ubuntu, zotero | Leave a comment

Agreed with myself that my primary way of making notes on a doc is with pdf annotations.Unfortunately, docear can’t import highlights made in foxit. This is great for annotating, and also supports opening the pdf at the correct page when you double-click on an imported annotation in docear. Installed Foxit reader under Wine as my pdf reader.I want to have access to the same bunch of references both from zotero and from docear. If I reorganise my pdfs in different folders, the links in docear musn’t break.I need to be able to reorganise them from time to time into different subfolders and also import any annotations I have made in them. I use both academic references and pdfs but also (often large numbers of) plain unpublished pdfs and other documents related to projects I am working on.This is very useful! You can double-click on the parent node and the document opens in some cases you can click on the child node and go straight to your comment in the pdf.īut it has taken me about a week to work out how to manage this process in detail. If the reference contains a pdf file which you have annotated, you can automatically import all your annotations (and the document’s bookmarks) as child nodes.Drag a document reference from the jabref window in docear to add the reference to your map.

This gives me the following cool functionality: Now what docear does is it also builds in jabref, which is another great reference manager. I usually mindmap at the start of the process of developing a project or an article, but sometimes in the later stages too. In particular I love docear, which is built on best-of-breed opensource mindmapper called Freeplane.
